Miko Petrauskas' fantastic one-act operetta "King of the Woods" is based on the one-act drama "Don't Kill" by Vlad Putvinsis, in which a mystical being - the King of the Woods - forces the Hunter to stop cutting woods and killing animals. Because it is the latter who are hungry and ready to eat someone smaller than themselves. But even them - bunnies, foxes, wolves, bears - the King of the Forests teaches the most important thing - to respect life. In this stark contrast between the weaker and the stronger, everyone learns to behave as they want to be treated regardless of who is stronger, faster, taller, etc. i.e., the competition, which is better, has no limits not only for children, but also for adults - that is why the musical performance "King of the Forests" is intended for both young and old.
Celebrating the 150th anniversary of the composer's birth, in cooperation with the Kaunas City Museum, we selected and revived this fantastic operetta from the funds, inviting everyone to remember his works, to spend time with his music, thanks to which we will get to know the unheard, only mentioned in the pages of music history, Miko Petrauskas music and we will answer the question of how relevant creative attempts of a century ago could be relevant and meaningful for the people of the 21st century.
