Audio-visual performance in unconventional spaces, enhanced by technology
Audio-visual performance in unconventional spaces, enhanced by technology, about modern man and one of the biggest addictions. It is a theatrical comic about today's forms of communication and the speed of existence. The mosaic of situations is created with elements of action theatre, street theatre, dance and plastic. The director Rūta Bunikytė is one of the most prolific theatre makers of the younger generation of Lithuanian theatre, who pays great attention to the contemporary stage and the relevance of the work to today's society.
The play uses the stories of 8 days in the life of the actors and the "new earth" they create. They are of different ages, social groups and lifestyles, but they are all united by their routines, addictions and fears - the fiction of their reality. A parallel between real and social life. These stories are like a module of one person's lifestyle.
- A young couple living trapped in a medium of short images.
- A woman who sleeps with her eyes open.
- A middle-aged couple whose life together has turned into a mechanical existence.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - An elderly couple lost in the new era.
- - - - - The Man in the box. You are my humblest friend and my worst enemy. You are my happiness and my poison. I cannot live without you, but I hate what you have turned me into. It's time for us to part ways."
The phone became our other half. It is the magic box of our tools, secrets, wishes. We could not imagine our lives without it. Habits, communication, relationships have changed, but the human nature for freedom has not. Everything was great until it became unbearable. This ideological love began to turn into a panicky addiction. It was time to divorce or create a new module of the world.
This is the new earth. Will you make it out or will you have to wait to be left behind? If the Creator were a medium, what kind of person would he create? Who will win: human consciousness or artificial intelligence?
With the need to invest in our own social hero, we can't bear to look away and grow a media hump. We choose 7 centimetres of personal screen light instead of sunlight, and the popular rear screen saver instead of real sensation. Isn't this Leonardo Da Vinci's 'The Last Supper', with the real me sitting on one side of the table and my 'social media hero' on the other? Or is it all fiction?
Do you dare to meet the real you and answer the questions honestly? How much time a day do you go without your phone? How many Facebook friends are you really friends with? And if there were no social networks and no phones, what would your day look like?
Made in social media - the fiction of the media peveict world.
