"Fora" | AR companies - Alice Rende (France)

 

This box is so cramped, almost distorting a woman's body. And finally -  escape... But does she actually break free? Her body continues to twist. Her inner struggle continues to be conveyed by the resistance against invisible walls.
In Portuguese, Catalan, Sardinian and Occitan, the word "Fora" means outside. Alice Rende's mono-performance combines two practices of flexibility and illusionism: enterology (the art of folding the whole body into a box that is clearly too small) and escapology (the art of breaking free from shackles). Despite the spectacular techniques, we will all experience a dreamlike, claustrophobic feeling of crampedness during the performance.
