"Early morning, the sun just beginning to rise, dew on the ground, a mysterious mist shrouding the fields. A stork's nest curled up on a tall black pole.
With the advent of the new circus, the participation of animals in the spectacle has been forgotten by all, but the choice of the animal as an object of artistic research in the contemporary circus has brought them back to the stage, only this time more consciously - in the form of an idea. Like the migratory birds - storks - circus artists do not stay in one place for long, their life is in constant movement. Inspired by this nomadic status, a stack of documentaries, children's and non-children's books, and people's stories, Finnish artist Aino Mäkipää uses the Chinese pole and juggling to tell the drama of the elegantly rough-looking bird from the human perspective in her first solo work, Stork.
