M.K. Čiurlionis' paintings are a very important testimony to the modernity of Lithuanian art in the early 20th century. For artist G. R. Šatūnas, it is also of great significance, which is why he is dedicating his exhibition to the upcoming 150th anniversary of M. K. Čiurlionis' birth. "And the special earthly [Fr.] primordial element, the basis of all things and the generative force that combines in itself what comes from heaven. Immeasurable and encompassing all things, its power is infinite. It contains great light and leads all things to the fulfilment of their purpose." G. R. Šatūnas graduated from school in Druskininkai. Later he studied stained glass and applied decorative arts at the Tallinn Academy of Fine Arts in Estonia and qualified as an applied painter. His stained glass windows have decorated several state buildings and several churches in Lithuania (stained glass windows at Mykolas Romeris University in Vilnius, stained glass windows at churches in Druskininkai, Kybartai, and Gelvoni). G. R. Šatūnas works not only in the field of stained glass, but also in the field of mixed media, often painting architecture, still-lifes and landscapes. G. R. Šatūnas has been a member of the Lithuanian Artists' Union (LDS) since 1999 and a member of the Rotterdam Centrum Bilden Kunst (CBK) since 2003. He has exhibited his paintings, prints and stained glass in galleries in Lithuania, Estonia, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands.
