The Baltic Guitar Festival welcomes the return of legendary tango and Latin American music stars from Italy - Giampaolo Bandini and Cesare Chiacchiaretta. Guitar and bandoneon - the perfect combination for music connoisseurs.
The duo of Giampaolo Bandini and Cesare Chiacchiaretta, featuring classical guitar and bandoneon, was formed in 2002 and has since had a clear goal: to showcase the charm and magic of Argentinian music on the instruments most suited to the occasion. The duo quickly became a benchmark for the performance of such music in the international concert space, and not only concert-goers, but also music critics have been impressed by their communication and incredible charisma. Regularly invited to major festivals and theatres around the world, they have performed in over 50 countries.
The ensemble had the great honour of performing Astor Piazzolla's Double Concerto Hommage a Liegi under the baton of Maestro Leo Brouwer himself. The great Cuban composer has also dedicated his work La Folia a Traves de los siglos (2017) to them.
The duo has also been the subject of works by a number of other well-known composers, such as Daniel Binelli, Fernando Tavolaro, Saverio Rapezzi, and Maximo Diego Pujol, who has dedicated to them the Double Concerto for guitar and bandeon and orchestra "Luminosa Buenos Aires" (2009).
The ability of both artists to feel the music to its very depths has opened up opportunities for them to collaborate with musicians such as Fernando Suarez Paz, Avi Avital, Salvatore Accardo, Manuel Barrueco, Pavel Steidl, Dusan Bogdanovic, and many others.
The ensemble has made numerous appearances on radio and television in Italy and abroad. In 2016 they debuted on the Decca label with the album Escualo, dedicated to composer Astor Piazzolla, and in 2020 they will also release the album Tango, Misterio y Folia there.
Both musicians are also excellent teachers, regularly invited to share their knowledge at prestigious academies and universities around the world, and have their own classrooms at the "Luigi Boccherini" (Lucca) and the "Gioacchino Rossini" (Pesaro) high schools.
