"Girevik" is a contemporary circus performance featuring a man and two hundred kilograms of weights. "In Girevik, the performer engages in a physical exchange with the iron weights. Responding to the objects' suggestions, he makes his body take on new forms with every movement. The artist travels through a territory defined by obstacles, constantly risking a dead end. Face to face with his own vulnerability, he works to make the sturdy cast-iron bodies move. With precision, with gentleness, with sincerity, he repositions the heavy piles of weights again and again. This fragile game turns into an ever-expanding composition of effort and collapse. "Girevik forcefully breaks into the archetype of the traditional "Strongman" and wrestles him into submission. The dismantled strength sheds the burden of stereotypes.

This show explores what is strong and what 'strong' means in our nature, exploring the subtleties of the emotional, intellectual and psychological aspects. The work challenges the historical aura of hyper-masculinity with weights and seeks an alternative poetics of work.
