"Henri is Elvis Presley and Jon Spencer combined. And most of all, the piano that becomes a demon under his hands!" (Ged Babey)
Truly, Henri Herbert is a piano phenomenon. One of the most coveted blues and boogie artists in the world. He started playing when he was only four and released his first CD at the age of twelve. Soon he was collaborating with legendary Rolling Stones keyboardist Chuck Leavell, performing for the royal family of Monaco, and appearing on David Letterman's TV show, where he had audiences gasping in amazement at his stunningly virtuosic, energetic performance.
In order to promote the bougie, he performs not only in opulent halls. He has given a series of concerts in public transport stations on the instrument, earning more than 100 million YouTube views.
Herbert invites you to get in touch with the roots of American music at the Taurage Jazz Festival. The heady bugis will be replaced by straight blues, the barroom lament by sensual jazz ballads. This programme is a love letter from the pianist to the coryphées that inspired him. "Look at guys like Hoagy Carmichael, John Lee Hooker, Ray... They all created musical universes," says the pianist, enthusiastically, inviting you into his own blues universe.
Programme by Henri Herbert, Ray Charles, Oscar Peterson under John Lee Hooker.
