"You can listen to the music we play while sitting down, but swing and traditional jazz are dance music, so you have to dance to it." - says Mindaugas, the band's guitarist and vocalist, who is also a professional jazz dance performer and teacher. We play this music both because we like it and because we understand it. It's much easier to convince the listener. Early jazz can be very diverse: dreamy, angry, joyful. That's how we perform it. We avoid standards, we look for more interesting pieces to educate the listener and introduce them to lesser heard pieces that are often underrated. From New Orleans marches and Vaudeville reggae to the big band music of the Swing Era and European jazz interpreted in our own way. Jazz is all kinds of things, sometimes raw and rough, sometimes impeccably precise and clean. "The Home Jazz Band tries to show it as authentic and varied.
