Idiòfona is an attempt to look at difficulties more easily, to find harmony in noise and to create a general vibration. And above all, it is an ode to the pleasure of shared experience.
Idiòfona is a conversation between man and material, during which an extended sound installation is created in a public space with the participation of the audience.
For those who are not musicians or students of the field, the concept of idiophone may be unfamiliar. This word, which "lent" its name to the performance, refers to a self-resonating instrument, with which the sound is not produced by the strings, but by the vibration of the instrument itself.
Using the idiophone as a starting point and aiming to combine the concepts of community, material and space, Joan Català creates a performance that invites the audience to lend a helping hand.
"Idiòfona" is a metallic poetic odyssey about fate cast in iron - about an explorer by nature running away from the path imposed on him. Idiòfona is about betraying tradition in order to create another that is one's own.
The presentation of the play at the ConTempo festival is sponsored by the Ramon Llull Institute
