Next session: Sun, 2 Feb 2025, 10:00
At the beginning of an improvised scene, it is very important to lay a strong foundation, to create a situation that is clear for the performers on stage and in the wings and for the audience. Who is doing what, where? How do the characters feel? Why do the characters do what they do? These are the questions we will learn to answer during the meeting.
Once you know who you are on stage, you can understand how to behave with each other, how to sense social boundaries.
Once you know where you are, the fog disappears and your imagination starts to see and create images on stage.
Once you know what you are doing, you can move around and give life to the scene.
When you know how you feel, you can turn a simple conversation into an important moment.
When you know why you act the way you do, the motivations of the characters become clear, and their depth and colours emerge.
During the workshop, we will create impromptu acting situations in an easy, simple, clear and fun way. We will learn about the basic elements of improvised situations - context, teamwork, improvisational compression, concreteness, and stage awareness.
