Through personal relationships, documentary archives, objects, memories, dream notes, photography and video works, poetry, performances, the artist explores how the same place works (the deja vu effect). Why do people who are trying to find or confirm their identity keep going back? To the past? To places that are important to them? How does the same place affect us in terms of time and experience? The title of the exhibition, The Rose Effect, is a reference to the content and the means. The name of the rose has a direct link to the artist and is part of her identity. "All the time I was studying in Telšiai I was called Rose", says the artist. "It was pleasant, painful, unbearable. But it gave me a lot: both a simple, intuitive way to survive, and to mature as a creator, to resist painful and strong experiences, to use them in my work, in social projects. Coming back to the same place (Telšiai) to study, I consciously choose to leave my comfort zone, to face painful memories - mental illness, bullying, psychological, physical and sexual violence, depression and moral decline. However, my personal experience is a testimony to my ability to cope with these issues, and even more so to use them as material for my work, to not close myself off and at the same time to encourage society to talk more about these issues and to look for solutions."
