On weekend mornings we invite you to join our SUP (paddleboard) tour on the Šalčia River.

The Šalčia is one of the most spectacular rivers in Dzūkija, surrounded by wild meadows and forests. However, in some places it is overgrown with emerald grasses that hide the bottom and make it look as if you are paddling through a beautiful meadow.

The beginning of the route is full of twists and turns, with each turn presenting a new and ever-changing view. Occasionally you may encounter fallen trees or underwater rocks, but the obstacles are easily overcome and add a positive spice to the ride.


TIME. Please arrive before 11.00am, a minibus will arrive to bring you all to the starting point. We will start with a briefing, during which you will hear all the necessary information: how to get on the paddle board, how to swim correctly, how to behave in case of a fall, which route to take and other important rules of behaviour on the water. The briefing takes about 15 minutes, then you will swim. The route is 13 km long, which is about 3-4 hours of swimming down the river. For the whole expedition you should plan up to 5 hours (with preparation, instructions, packing after the trip).

LOCATION. We meet at the Šalčios campsite, coordinates 54.342270, 24.846740 (near the bridge of Šalčios), link to the map at https://goo.gl/maps/1jmSefFy6eM2, it's located about 2 km from Valkininkai, in the village of Užuperkasis. We will leave the cars here, the bus will take you to the starting point so you will be at your cars right away when you arrive.

APRANGA. Wear loose, sporty clothes that won't make it difficult to get into the water (pants can be rolled up:) We recommend you to have dry clothes in the car in case you accidentally fall off (the chances of falling are very small, but it's better to be prepared).

For participants you can rent a waterproof suit (10 EUR) and/or neoprene boots (5 EUR) for an extra charge. For clothing reservation it is necessary to contact the organisers of the tour in advance by e-mail: [email protected] or by phone.

COST. The cost of the tour on the Šalča River is 40 Eur (the price includes: instruction, all necessary equipment, transport from the finish to the starting point).

In case of very unfavourable weather conditions (storm, thunderstorm or other dangerous natural phenomenon), which may endanger the participants of the event, the event may not take place at the scheduled time and may be rescheduled for another date by mutual agreement.


PARTICIPANTS. The river tour is open to persons aged 14 years and over accompanied by an accompanying adult. Please note that the accompanying instructor does not accompany the tour.
Persons under the influence of alcohol or other substances are not allowed to participate in the tour. The organisers reserve the right to refuse to provide the service to such persons and not to refund the money paid for the ticket.

If the tour takes place but the client does not show up for the tour and does not contact the administration for his/her non-arrival in advance (24 hours prior to the start of the tour) using the contact details on the ticket, the money paid for the ticket will not be returned. The ticket purchased is valid only for the tour date indicated on the ticket. Refunds will only be issued if the tour is cancelled. If you wish to exchange your tickets, an exchange fee of EUR 5 applies. You can exchange your tickets for another tour up to 24 hours before the start of the tour.
