The Aria and 30 variations for harpsichord, more commonly known as the "Goldberg Variations", composed by J.S. Bach for BMW 988, still sound very contemporary today. Their arrangements for various instruments and ensembles underline the enduring appeal of this work for musicians and audiences alike.
The Variations cover a variety of forms - fugues, gigas and toccatas - each of which reveals different techniques for using the instrument. This requires both virtuosity and a deep understanding of the music.
The Variations will be performed by Džeraldas Bidva (violin), Dalia Dėdinskaitė (viola), and Gleb Pyšniak (cello), exceptional musicians who regularly perform as soloists with prestigious orchestras in Lithuania and worldwide.
