John Richard Handy III - a renowned jazz singer and saxophone magician, born in 1933, already a member of Charles Mingus' band in the 1950s (Mingus Ah Um, 1959; Blues and Roots, 1960 and up to 10 more records), he has released some 20 albums since 1959 and has continued to be one of jazz's most creative players right up to the 2020s.

Apart from various formal accolades, including Grammy nominations, he has many loyal fans around the world, though the circles are as diverse as the genres of jazz music in his repertoire.
