"Klaipėda - European Youth Capital 2021" invites you to the opening of the unique exhibition "Hungry for Love". The exhibition by Jolita Vaitkutė, one of the most popular artists among young people, is a dedication to love that has no limits and no standards. The opening of the exhibition, which presents seven Klaipėda love stories, will take place tomorrow, 16 December, at 16.00.
"We need love like food. The project ALKANI LOVE is about this and other important ingredients. Real people behind those pumpkins and beetroot feelings - seven stories of couples whose love is not accepted by all. I really enjoyed the language of vegetables, especially when sharing such sensitive topics. It's easy to look at vegetables, but sometimes it's not so easy to look at someone else's love," says Jolita Vaitkutė.
An intriguing exhibition, a gift to the city from the project "Klaipėda - European Youth Capital 2021". According to the #chooseklaipeda team, throughout the year, the project for young people has been highlighting in its events the forms of love that are still stigmatised in society, and this exhibition is a continuation of the project's emphasis on equality in all aspects of life. The series of kisses created by Jolita Vaitkutė, "Hungry for Love", is not just vegetables falling into the right places. Behind these organics is a real kiss between two people and a real love story. The kisses of Klaipėda residents, embodied in the vegetable displays, proclaim that we are all equal, regardless of colour, origin, disability or sexual orientation.
The exhibition consists of 7 love stories between foreigners, people of non-traditional sexual orientation or people with disabilities. In each painting you can see different stories, but the same moment - the moment of expressing love for each other. The opening of the exhibition will take place on 16 December at 16.00. The event will take place at the Klaipėda Drama Theatre. The artist herself will be present at the opening to share her thoughts and present the exhibition. Four more meetings with the artist are planned for the year of the exhibition, the exact dates of which will be announced later on @chooseklaipeda.
