This exhibition is an invitation to remember the creative contribution of Prof. Jonas Minkevičius to both Lithuanian and world architecture. The exhibition will feature over 60 graphic and watercolour works depicting architectural and landscape objects from Lithuania and from Professor Mininkevich's travels abroad - to Greece, Spain, Italy, Egypt, India and other countries. You will also be able to see a review of Jonas Minkevičius' works by Vytautas Landsbergis-Zemkalnis, one of the most famous architects of the interwar period. The exhibition will also reveal part of the professor's life story, which is truly fascinating. Jonas Minkevičius (born in 1929) studied at Kupiškis, Klaipėda and Panevėžys gymnasiums, and graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of Kaunas Polytechnic Institute in 1954. From 1960 to 2002 he was a researcher at the Lithuanian Research Institute of Construction and Architecture, head of the sector of architectural theory and perspective problems. 1994-2011 - Professor at the Faculty of Construction and Architecture, KTU. As an author and co-author, he has written 33 books on various architectural and artistic issues and two novels. He was one of the main researchers of folk architecture, and since 1966 he was one of the founders of the Lithuanian Folk Life Museum in Rumšiškės. He was the first in the world architectural studies to establish the foundations of the synthesis of modern interior and monumental decorative arts, and also revealed the latest trends in Western architecture and their philosophical foundations, which influenced the course of Lithuanian architecture. Since 1943, he has been an underground atheist who suffered for spreading national and new scientific ideas and ignoring Soviet ideology. For political reasons, he was prevented from defending two dissertations.
