About
On the shortest night of the year, Šventoji will invite you to a fun, magical and full of activities Midsummer celebration. On 21-24 June, the Midsummer Fair will be buzzing with more than 130 creators of folk art, heritage and unique products, who will be on hand to show off their wares.
Active entertainment for young and old
The long festive weekend will be greeted by the sea in the mornings, where residents and guests of Sventoji will be treated to active entertainment, exercise and group swimming in the sea. On Saturday, the Palanga Sports Centre invites you to a 2x2 basketball match at the Šventoji Primary School Stadium. On Sunday, on the beach by the "Fisherman's Daughters", we will do a morning exercise together with the Kopa Gym trainers, followed by a swim in the Baltic Sea. It might be the first swim of the year for some of you, so there will be no shortage of support. And on Monday, we'll invite families with children to the beach's active area to compete in various competitions, relay races and learn to love sport. For older children and their parents, coach Andrius Šlušnys will introduce the subtleties of volleyball.
Saturday and Sunday afternoons will also be spent by the sea. On Saturday, the Baltic Sea Scouts will teach you how to identify the tracks of various animals and tree species, while the more diligent ones will be able to make an original bracelet. On Sunday, Dino Park will bring fun "dinosaur" activities for the little ones from Radailių to Šventoji: we will build a dinosaur country, create a model of a dinosaur eye and explore dinosaur fossils. We'll round off Saturday's fun with the charismatic DJ Vladas. 70s-90s hits will be played in Šventoji pedestrian square. On both days, the Shark slide terrace invites you to immerse yourself in Midsummer with a bang. The atmosphere of the beach will be created by DJ Jovani, DJ Tommie and DJ Flaxen beats. There will be animators, a foam show and the biggest water slide in Europe.
Sun escort with Argentinian Lithuanians
This year, St John's Day in Sventoji is welcoming special guests. Lithuanians from all over the world come to celebrate the centenary song festival. The Argentinian Lithuanians did not resist the temptation to come to the seaside for St John's Day. On Sunday, 23 June, from 15:00. The Argentinian Lithuanian collective "Nemunas", together with the Palanga Culture Centre's collectives "Mėguva", "Guboja", "Bočiai" and "Banguolis" will weave traditional Midsummer wreaths out of meadow flowers gathered nearby. The groups will sing and dance the wreaths, tell the meanings of the flowers they have chosen and share their Midsummer spells. The Gardens of Babylon will bring their own herbs. We will taste tea and learn about tea rituals to the background of meditative music. In the evening, the participants will go to the mouth of the Šventoji River. Here, at the old pier, we will see off the sun together with the Argentinian Lithuanians and the bands of Palanga. As it sinks into the water, the Midsummer fire will be lit. Before midnight, we will go on a mystery trail in search of the fern blossom.
Fun for those who find the fern blossom
On Monday, Sventoji will wake up changed. Maybe the search for the fern ring has changed everything? On this day we will focus on St John and St Janine. We will invite them to register at noon and in the evening, on the pedestrian square on the stage, to formally receive the traditional Midsummer Oak Wreath. The Lithuanian Argentinean Society "Nemunas" will present an exceptional performance of Lithuanian dances, Argentinean folklore dances and tango dances. And the Midsummer Festival in Sventoji 2024 will close with a fun-filled party with the Hiperband band. The concert is dedicated to fans of legendary songs that have made Lithuanian history. Together with the band you will be able to sing "Aš dar dainuosiu", "Pamiršk me", "Laužai" and other well-known and popular songs.
