Georges Bizet - songs from the cycle "20 Mélodies", Op. 21
Internationally acclaimed mezzo-soprano Justina Gringytė and one of the most prominent British pianists, Malcolm Martineau, invite you to an exclusive recital featuring the songs of the French Romantic master Georges Bizet from the cycle 20 Mélodies Op. 21.
While Bizet is best known for his opera Carmen, he also composed more than 50 songs for voice and piano. These songs are rich in harmony, emotional power and theatricality, allowing soloist and pianist to explore the full interpretative palette.
Justina Gringytė, winner of Young Singer of the Year at the International Opera Awards, has been praised for her "astonishing technique" (The Times) and "thunderously powerful voice" (Daily Telegraph). One of her stand-out roles was Carmen in Bizet's Carmen, which earned her international acclaim.
Malcolm Martineau is one of the finest pianist-accompanists of his generation, having worked with opera stars such as Elina Garanča, Sonya Yoncheva, Florian Boesch and Sarah Connolly.
An unforgettable evening at the Kaunas Philharmonic - delicate French music, exciting interpretation and top-class performers.
