On 20 April at 3 pm we invite you to the opening of the exhibition "Wild Tenderness" by the young generation interdisciplinary artist Karolina Ūla Valentaitė. The exhibition will give visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of mysticism and magic that the artist creates.
At the opening event, Karolina Ūla Valentaitė, the author of the exhibition, will read her texts on the theme of the exhibition, as well as the writers Virginija Kulvinskaitė, Ramūnas Liutkevičius, Patricija Gudeikaitė, Eglė Frank, Kristina Tamulevičiūtė, Aušra Kaziliūnaitė, Kerry Shawn Keys, and Eglė Murauskaitė will read their texts on the subject of the exhibition. Other pleasant surprises await the participants of the event: original performances by artists who have collaborated with the author in different projects. Performance artist Julius Jančauskas and sound artists Ugnė Makselytė and Tadas Greičiūnas will perform at the opening. Saturday afternoon is the perfect time for a picnic with family or friends in the Manor Park. During the opening, visitors will be treated to wine and snacks.
The exhibition "Wild Tenderness" explores the possibility and limits of the immediate relationship between man and nature. Is it possible for them to have such a close emotional connection that the threads of use, exploitation, power and appropriation are dissolved? Can man and nature coexist as one indivisible system? Or are we already falling into the trap of dualism by asking these questions? In her second solo exhibition "Wild Tenderness", Karolina Ūla Valentaitė explores these themes through the expression of video art.
The artist's work combines a rethinking of the animist tradition with contemporary discourses, online dating, queer culture and scientific knowledge. The connection between nature and the individual becomes a central thread in the works to understand oneself, one's environment and one's relationships with people close to oneself. And to discover new ways to exist in consumer culture
