"Kaunas in Photographs is an attempt to create an ongoing series of exhibitions about the city we all understand, identify and remember from images taken in the past, while at the same time, involuntarily or consciously, never stopping to create new ones. So the first exhibition in the series starts from the 1960s, which we in no way idealise. At that time, photography as a medium was already less sophisticated, which influenced the growing number of images at our disposal. These images are of all kinds: static and orderly, spontaneous and less successful, naïve, beautiful, joyful, or tinged with an unfortunate ideology. So, for your attention, Kaunas with all its Changes. Let this exhibition be a place for your memories, sentiments, surprise and maybe even indignation," writes Donatas Stankevičius in his text. The Kaunas Photography Gallery (Vilniaus g. 2, Kaunas) will be open until 17 August.
