"I use the principle of contrast to create collages. I use different artistic tools to try to combine different things, to create a composition out of elements that at first glance do not seem to fit together. In this way, a provocative encounter between different (contradictory) things is created, an invitation to find what they have in common, how they fit together and what connects them. Following this idea, in my collages I try to juxtapose drawings of children's clothes and military equipment, mechanical toys and militaristic mechanics, I look for a connection between different geometric shapes, colours and textures.
The visual dimension of the exhibition is based on the basic principles of modernist art, in particular on the constructivist aesthetics of Bauhaus. In the collages I combine stylized details of geometric forms, strive for a constructive architectonic composition, and highlight the mechanical, technical nature of the objects.
By bringing to the foreground the original idea of an object, a schematic, a drawing, the parameters of life and death (the contrasts) paradoxically reveal themselves. Any drawing acts as a kind of model, a generalizing image, a diagram with the potential to become a real object. In the process of realising the object, what is abstract materialises and becomes a real man-made thing. In the space of collage, I aim to visualise the hidden semantics of the drawings that have not yet materialised. Every drawing, once it has reached the stage of a material object, can serve life and humanity, but it can also become a tool for destroying life.
The aim of my project is to find, in the face of today's complicated geopolitical situation, an artistic form that would allow us to discuss topical issues, to reflect on values such as tolerance, understanding of other cultures, peace and freedom, and creation for life and harmony."
