"In this exhibition I am combining two drawing projects into a single cycle. In these works, I present the world as a constantly dying and being born phenomenon. It is a dynamic of opposites - processes that end in cruel death each time and the birth of a structure that is continuously renewed. In the series Pregnant Matter, I imagine matter coming to life, I create non-existent life forms that have emerged from inanimate matter. The inanimate objects become fantastical creatures, mutating, their function no longer clear. Leaving behind the categories of geology/biology, they turn into independently existing beings, appearing somewhere between the realms of animal/plant/fungus/bacteria. These categories are no longer important to me, because I am painting the emergence of new matter, the fecundity of the world, and the fertile material from which everything is born. These are works that make sense of the metaphor of beginning. "The drawings in The Ends of the Earth, on the other hand, depict the end of things, the decay, disintegration and disintegration of everything into parts. I present the end as an all-encompassing and enveloping universal cosmic phenomenon, not a local event but a universal law. These triptychs of drawings are each a separate interpretation of the apocalypse, as a line or a sequence of events in a circle, finally returning back to the beginning.0147 (Kristina Striogaitė) will be on view at the Kairė-right Gallery (Latako st. 3, Vilnius) until 16 February.
