Vilnius, like any self-respecting medieval city, was surrounded by a defensive wall. The wall girdled the territory of 100 hectares and had a length of about 4 km. To communicate with the outside world there were gates in it, which were guarded round the clock and locked at night. What was the length and height of this wall, how many gates were there in it? Where did it go later? All this and much more you will learn during our walk along the imaginary defensive wall, which will take about 2 hours.
You will learn:
- How the defense of the city from the enemy was arranged
- Who and when built the wall and what was its length
- What remains of the defensive structures of Vilnius in the 16th century
- Where the defensive wall passed
- Why of all the gates only one has survived to this day
