We often only really see things when our relationship with them is broken. A burnt-out light bulb, a shattered smartphone screen or a broken heel make us realise how much we depend on the things around us and remind us of our interdependence. When a friendship ends, a long-term relationship breaks down, or we lose a relative or a loved one, we realise something similar: a break-up allows us to see what we have lost and to see things in a different light.
"Hold me tight" is a fragment of a memory scene, woven from experience.
