In the stunning northern region of Portugal, fifty-year-old Ana lives. She not only takes care of her own household but also helps her older friend Emilia, who has been looking after the abandoned estate of the homeowners for forty years. Soon, it becomes clear that Emilia's health is deteriorating drastically, and she also requires care. Ana is too attached to her friend and her homeland, which does not help her relationships with her husband or her daughter, who is a student and envisions her future in a bigger city with more opportunities. The three women, from different generations, are searching for their place in a rapidly changing world where the cycle of life only renews itself through inevitable endings.
