About the band:Leichtfried meets Apulskis is a project born out of a musical exchange between two jazz musicians, Lithuanian saxophonist Mindaugas Apulskis and Austrian pianist Jörg Leichtfried, who share musical ideas. The musicians have not played together in this project so far, but after hearing each other's music, they realised that it was time to meet on stage.
The programme will feature original works by Mindaugas Apulskis (Lithuania) and Jörg Leichtried (Austria), as well as interpretations of jazz standards
MINDAUGAS APULSKIS- saxophonist, composer, pedagogue, big band musician (Klaipėda Jazz Orchestra, Lithuania Jazz Ensemble, Vilnius JJazz Ensemble, Kaunas Big Band, etc.), whose music combines the colours of traditional jazz and avant-garde verve. Apulskis holds a Master's degree from the Prince Claus Conservatory in the Netherlands and has also had the opportunity to train in New York.
JOERG LEICHTFRIED is an Austrian pianist and composer based in Vienna. Lecturer at JAM MUSIC LAB Private University Vienna. In 2021 he received the Austrian National Music Award. Leader of many projects and has released several albums of original music. Active on international stages and festivals (Dresden Jazz Festival, Germany. Warsaw Jazz Festival, Poland.
NERIJUS ARDZEVIČIUS is a double bassist, pedagogue, a long-time performer of Kaunas Big Band, and a guest participant of musical projects. During his musical career he has performed in the most famous Lithuanian and international jazz festivals.
JULIJUS SIPAVIČIUS is a drummer of the younger generation, who has already appeared in such venues as Vilnius Jazz Young Power, Jazz Cellar 11, Kaunas Jazz. "Drummer of 207 Collective project.
