Jazz in the period in question was developing in a very distinctive way in the country, with an incendiary spirit of resistance, and was also played by musicians with an academic musical background. A lot of music was recorded and published at that time, and a valuable archive of historical photographs of private individuals (photographers, performers) has been preserved.

The arrival of jazz as a new genre of music in Lithuania in the 20th century. Later, in the Soviet era, it became a breakthrough of distinctive artistic expression, a synonym of freedom, although officially it was considered unacceptable to the Soviet ideology and a foreign phenomenon.
