The origins of the LMTA Big Band date back to the 1980s, when Vladimir Chekasin brought together all those who wanted to play jazz into an orchestra in the jazz studio of the Lithuanian State Conservatoire. Since then, the big band has been led by both Liudas Mockūnas and Dimitrij Golovanov. In 2015, Tomas Dičiūnas became the director. In 2022, the first vinyl was released. The Big Band strives to perform a wide range of modern music, actively participates in jazz festivals and gives solo concerts together with the most famous Lithuanian musicians. The members of the Big Band are already well-known on the Lithuanian scene, many of them performing their own original projects.
