Ukrainian musical hero Lubomyr Melnyk to perform in Vilnius
On 17 November this year, the legendary Ukrainian pianist Lubomyr Melnyk will perform in Vilnius. The pioneer of "Continuous Music" and probably the fastest piano player in the world will perform at St Catherine's Church.
Lubomyr Melnyk is probably the most exciting pianist of today and, despite his age, he fascinates audiences with his magical and unique piano playing techniques.
He is also a pioneer of the so-called "continuous music" technique, and with his hands the piano seems to take on a voice. Lubomyr Melnyk's concert is an immersion into an experience in which the piano is not only an instrument, but also the painter of an individual picture for each person.
Lubomyr Melnyk is also a perfectionist, and over the years his dedication to perfection has taken the piano as an instrument to a new level, and the Ukrainian performer is often christened as the piano's "piano prophet". "His performance was like a martial arts performance in sound, speed and aesthetics, and his fingers ran in octaves as if they were not touching the keys!" - said one review.
Melnyk released six albums between 1980 and 1990, including The Song Of Galadriel, which was listed in the top 10 as "one of the 10 most important albums of our time" by New York Stereo Review. Since 2002, he has released 16 new recordings, including Illirion on Sony Classical.
