MUSIC CONNECTIONS | Darius MAŽINTS' recital on the occasion of the National Day
 

On the occasion of the National Day, pianist Darius Mažintas invites you to a festive concert of piano music. On 6 July, in the manor house of the Trakai Voke, the artist will play works by F. Chopin, M. K. Čiurlionis and E. Satie. All these brilliant composers share a sense of spiritual freedom, creative devotion and love for their homeland. These values are important for a pianist, they shape the musicality of the pianist and inspire the search for the form of performance. During the concert we will hear how the compositions of M. K. Čiurlionis and F. Chopin lead through spiritual discoveries, creating a connection with the environment of the Trakai Voke Manor.

The famous Chopin Nocturnes played by D. Mažintas are emotionally rich, full of subtexts, which the concert audience will undoubtedly notice. The pianist performed Chopin's Nocturnes in war-torn Ukraine, the latter seeming to evoke the desire for freedom and hope. The choice of Čiurlionis's works is also not accidental. During the concert, we will hear compositions by one of the greatest Lithuanian artists, which would not have been born without creative freedom and love for Lithuania. As D. Mažintas says: "M. K. Čiurlionis is a profound creator who saw colours and events that many have not seen. When performing his music, it is important for me to notice those colours and to convey them to the listener as I feel them."

Darius Mažintas' piano playing is associated with expressiveness, subtlety and emotional access. The pianist is characterised by his musicality and unique, sensitive interpretation, unexpected nuances and distinctive musical images. Darius Mažintas has won prizes in international competitions, has been invited to perform at festivals, and has given solid performances with various orchestras and renowned Lithuanian and foreign partners. For the fourth year in a row, the pianist is organising a youth music masterclass in Neringa. In 2023, Darius Mažintas performed a recital at the NATO Summit.
