In this exhibition, looking at the photographic heritage of S. Lukošius, we are invited to travel to the world of the city's enchanting past.
Although we are always rushing towards greater and greater 'order', convenience, civilisation, we can also see the other side of the photographer's frozen frames: the struggle of contrasts, the pausing of the old forms before they disappear, or rather, they are displaced. And then we feel a melancholic longing, remembering the spontaneity of nature and the territories of agricultural life that have not yet been fully conquered, and the different relationships and ethics that existed between people before.
A carriage rolling through the city centre, flocks of children in winter among the wooden huts of Brazilka, women in white shawls sitting quietly in church, cows grazing against the background of suburban apartment blocks and factory buildings, and wooden houses of traditional construction and decoration, all appear as if they were phantasmagorical details against the backdrop of new projects, construction and repair work.
