On 23 August at 16:00, the European Parliament will host a meeting of the European Parliament. The documentary film "The Unrepeatable Baltic Way" by director Darius Dapkus will be screened free of charge at the Varėnos Cultural Centre, J. Basanavičiaus st.17.

The film "The Unrepeatable Baltic Way" was made to commemorate the historic Baltic Way of 23 August 1989 - a peaceful political action when approximately 2 million people joined hands to form a 600 km long living chain that connected Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn. It was a unique and symbolic protest against the Soviet occupation and became one of the most important steps on the Baltic countries' road to independence.
The film "The Unrepeatable Baltic Way" features authentic videos and photographs from the action, eyewitness recollections and experiences, as well as historical commentary, to help you better understand the significance and the context of the event.
