The unusual composition of the jazz ensemble "Ivar Kolve trio" returns to Kaunas with a contrasting concert program full of Norwegian color, sparkling with the rhythms of modern jazz and old Norwegian folk music. Since 1994 the group playing music together has already left a bright mark in the history of Norwegian jazz. Jazz compositions performed with vibraphone or marimba, contrabass and percussion instruments surprise many with their unusual abundance of harmonies and extraordinary expression.
Founder of the ensemble, marimba and vibraphone virtuoso Ivars Kolve since 1988. lives in Bergen. After completing his studies at the Bergen Conservatory, the performer trained in the USA with one of the world's most famous marimba players, Dave Samuels. I. Kolve not only plays in ensembles of various composition and solo, participates in jazz festivals, performs programs with symphony orchestras, but also creates music for various jazz ensembles and projects.
Steinas Inge Brækhus, who plays percussion instruments in the ensemble, started his career as a performer back in the 9th century. in the decade. The list of bands in which this exceptionally talented drummer has played is extremely long. It lists almost all the most famous Norwegian and Swedish jazz ensembles, artists from all over Europe and the USA. S.I. Brækhus is also a music producer, owns a mobile recording studio called Breakhouse Studio and teaches at Stavanger University's Music and Dance Institute.
Sébastien Dubé, the double bassist of the trio, received his musical education at the Conservatory of Quebec (Canada), then continued his studies at Rice University (USA) and the University of Southern California. Having worked for several years in various US and Canadian orchestras, the performer in 1993 moved to Scandinavia, where his career has been successful until now. In addition to playing solo and in symphony orchestras, S. Dubé creates jazz compositions and performs with jazz ensembles of various compositions. For this performer, ethnic, jazz, classical, even national music is equally important, and his creative motto is to get to know the secrets of music as deeply as possible with the help of the double bass.
