They are coming back! British rock stars Nothing But Thieves will present their new concept album of the decade in Vilnius in February
What a new happy concert news on the horizon of the music agency 8 Days A Week: British rock stars Nothing But Thieves are coming back to Lithuania in February! This modern rock event in the capital is scheduled for 8 February 2025 at the Compensa Concert Hall.
Nothing But Thieves are coming back to Lithuania for a reason - the British rock stars will be presenting their new album in the capital. The show in Vilnius is part of the band's big "Death Club City" tour. The tour will also include a visit to Tallinn. The announcement was made today by Nothing But Thieves themselves and the band's frontman Conor Mason on their social networks.
Now is a new phase for Nothing But Thieves and it's definitely their time. They're riding a tsunami-sized wave and enjoying it. The band's last UK tour was a complete sell-out, including two shows at London's Wembley Stadium. The band's single "Welcome to the DCC" was voted the hottest record of the year by the British music network BBC Radio 1. Olivia Rodrigo's hit "Vampire" and Miley Cyrus's "Flowers" followed close behind. "Radio X named the band's next track "Overcome" as Record of the Year.

Why delay?
Today, their name is on the posters of many major festivals, and they are listened to by thousands of people. They have cut through many other bands and are today at the forefront of the new wave of rock. After a little more than a decade, Nothing But Thieves have become a big and important band. Perhaps this is also due to the fact that their last album, Moral Panic, was released during a pandemic and they were unable to perform. So now they are making up for it, and they are making up for it. It will be interesting to see how their careers and musical activities develop further.
The friendship between the band members is transforming into an amazing body of work that is being appreciated all over the world. I wonder what the formula for life is here, but the men of Nothing But Thieves are certainly close to twenty at heart now. They have never sounded so vibrant, inspiring and together. You see five of them on stage and you hear a band where every musician has a very important role to play.
"Dead Club City" is the fourth album in the band's history. It is the result of ten years of ideas, experiences, ambitions, influences and their lifestyle. An interesting detail is that all of the band's albums have reached the top ten of the UK album chart. Two of them have been in the top three. "Dead Club City was the first album to reach the top of the chart.
Nothing But Thieves used to tour with bands like Muse, Twin Atlantic, Arcade Fire, but they're past that stage. What they're doing now is just as impressive.
About Nothing But Thieves"
Nothing But Thieves got together in 2012 to have fun and write songs. "Don't be impressionable, your religious leaders are nothing but mega thieves." The word "mega" didn't stick, so they dropped it and left "Nothing But Thieves". Like true Brits, they didn't have much optimism, they just enjoyed the process. Now we have what we have - one of the most progressive British rock bands.
Nothing But Thieves call their music "muscle rock". There are good elements of pop music too. They break myths and prove that the friendship between rock and pop music is possible and even very influential. Although they say they have never been afraid of pop music, they still want to clarify: "For us, pop music is about creating strong songs. "Nirvana is the same pop music. Tom Petty is also pop music."
The band's new and conceptual album Dead Club City is a separate world or something else. It often happens that bands, especially later in their career, get away with concept albums, but that's not the case here. "You can listen to the songs on Dead Club City in order or not. Either way will be very good.
"Welcome to the DDC / Dead Club City" is the opening line of Nothing But Thieves' new album.
Welcome to "Dead Club City": a song that gets even the most stagnant of clubs moving, and reflexively raises its fist. A song made for dramatic curtain raisings and loud cheers of welcome. A true rock anthem for today.
Welcome to Dead Club City: a place, a mindset, a meta-universe where cocktails flow freely and privilege and social alienation collide face to face. Here is a battlefield in a pool filled with plastic, hollow and coloured balls. It is an intersection of celebrity and internet culture, personal relationships, the European Union, the music industry, political movements, culture wars and youthful rebellion."
"Dead Club City" was made by the band in an escape to a remote village in England. They overhauled a studio there. Of course, back then they called it Dead Club City Studios and started. For the first time, Nothing But Thieves was not constrained by deadlines and budgets. No tension, no micro-management and no unsolicited opinions from producers. Plenty of space and time to think through every little detail. Today, they confidently say that this is their strongest album yet.
Welcome to Dead Club City: an album that oozes with characters and stories. Here, five minutes of fame are also found in Zzzeros, a band invented by the artists themselves, who, as the band members say, "are desperate for recognition, but Dead Club City chews them up and then spits them out". For a band from a fantasy world, Zzzeros' fame is really only five minutes long. It's short, but what can you do. "Nothing But Thieves take on the character of Zzzeros and perform the 80s pop-soul song "Do You Love Me Yet?". In a word, the album has really worked with narratives and it works.
All 11 tracks on Dead Club City are live, written for stadiums and rich in sound. No, not just great-sounding live, but alive with themselves. Alive with huge ideas, good pop hooks, soul licks, hip hop rhythms, carefully constructed riffs, vocalist Conor Mason's smooth falsetto and quality. This release is free of progressive rock mentalism.
One track on the album, "City Haunts", is the DNA of today's Nothing But Thieves. It's the DNA of the band's DNA: from Al Green to Electric 6, from Bee Gees classics to Blur's "Beetlebum". You see, it's kind of the band's guilty pleasure, so for a long time they only listened to it in secret and didn't use it as inspiration in any way on the recordings. But when they thought that life is too short to be serious forever, they let their imagination run wild and put together everything they sincerely love. "It's going to get a lot more playful, colourful and textured," the members of Nothing But Thieves say with a chuckle about the song "City Haunts".
Another song that's just as noteworthy is "Pop The Balloon". "One of the most difficult songs we've written. The guitars and drums meet in the beginning, like Nine Inch Nails and Queens of the Stone Age meeting. In the middle of the song there is an odyssey of progressive electronics. The listener is then ambushed by the chorus. Our bravery and silliness in one is something close to a comedy," says guitarist Craik, unable to contain his smile. It's not easy to explain in words here. You need to hear it in musical language. If Dead Club City has an outlet, it's in the song "Pop The Balloon".
Welcome to Dead Club City, where only members get in. What is Dead Club City, anyway? Mindset? A real place? Another planet? Paradise? Everything and nothing in one.
Welcome to Dead Club City. Welcome after face control. You are cordially invited to come inside. Now it's your choice, just be warned that once you join, your membership lasts forever and your benefits are unlimited.
It seems that everyone wants to get into Dead Club City. Once you get in, they say it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Nothing But Thieves is undoubtedly one of the most popular rock bands in the world. They break the rules of rock and enjoy it. "Nothing But Thieves is an experience that is hard to put into words. It is a must-see live band. They give a feeling that everyone wants to experience.
Another classic concert in the capital awaits us.
