Oliver Tree, the darling of the younger generation and the king of memes, is coming to Lithuania
Thumbs up. The King of Memes Oliver Tree is finally coming to Lithuania! Another music event we've been waiting for forever. The illegitimate son of fictional British spy Austin Powers, Oliver Tree is undoubtedly one of the most intriguing and enigmatic characters in the music and entertainment industry. 14 July.
For the younger generation of Lithuanian music lovers, his concert in the capital is the biggest gift of the year. I wonder what memes will appear on the Internet after Oliver Tree's performance in Vilnius?
In the eyes of his fans, he is already a legend, a viral artist and a true sensation. From his unique fashion sense to his eclectic musical style, Oliver Tree never gets old. His tendency to push the boundaries and go against the norm sets his personality apart from the rest. He makes waves with his distinctive vocals and thought-provoking lyrics. His authenticity and rejection of entertainment business standards have earned him fans around the world.
Today, Oliver Tree boasts billions of views online and millions of followers on social media. He is enjoying life, true to rock and roll and totally different from other artists. Oliver captivates his devoted and growing audience, the so-called treehuggers, with a Dadaist and Andy Kaufman-worthy meta-humour that explores and exposes the absurdity of contemporary culture, the obsession with fame and social media. The artist's work reflects the light and darkness of human nature in popular culture, touching on loneliness, exclusion and similar human experiences. Oliver Tree is always open about his mental health and actively uses his platforms to shine a light and encourage self-care. Oliver recognises his uniqueness and encourages others to do the same, inspiring his fans to embrace their own individuality.
Every artist has a story, Oliver Tree does too. With his trademark 'blouse' hairstyle, his 'knocked-out' front tooth, his too-small glasses and his too-big clothes, Oliver Tree has attracted attention around the world. His charisma and stage presence are something to behold. Fact: His interviews are among the funniest in the music industry. He is definitely not clay on stage, but a unique character that will be hard to take your eyes off. But behind the eccentric appearance, there is a sensitive personality, a talented songwriter, producer, film director and even an accomplished scooterist, by the way, owner of the world's largest scooter and Guinness World Record holder.
Try to imagine a scooter that is even 4.16 metres high and 3.13 metres long?

About Oliver Tree
Oliver Tree Nickellis is Oliver Tree Nickell. He is a contemporary American performer, self-taught producer, comedian and filmmaker from Santa Cruz, California. The colourful character Oliver Tree has successfully blurred the boundaries between memes and music with his hilariously bizarre antics on the internet. In music, Oliver Tree juggles indie pop and hip-hop-infused dance music.
According to Rolling Stone, Oliver Tree wins despite his defiance of the usual standards of the entertainment business: he exists in a constant state of eccentric Napoleon Dynamite, behaving like a hooligan named Turbo, with a penchant for crazy music videos and slapstick, and then there are those scooters. "VICE calls Oliver a "meme machine" and Billboard calls him a "hilarious alt-pop jokester". On this tour, he even allows a scaled-down version of himself ("Mini-me") to "warm up" his concerts. Nobody else in the music world does that, do they? Whether he's singing along to pop-punk guitars and handclaps or rapping on a beat reminiscent of early 90s boom-bap, Oliver's music finds an emotional resonance in the depths of the ages - in the loneliness of man.
The violence of rattling the piano in his early teens had turned the Californian teenager away from music altogether. He found friends and purpose in a scooter freestyle competition, but one accident changed the trajectory of his life forever. A chance guitar tryout in a music store and a crush on David Bowie brought Oliver back into the musical orbit.
In 2010, Oliver launched his music career under the name of Tree. He released his debut album Splitting Branches on his own, and also tried his hand as lead singer of ska band Irony and dubstep producer. At the age of 20, he signed to London's R&S Records and released a short album, Demons. Radiohead's Thom Yorke liked Oliver's version of "Karma Police" and gave the album a lot of attention, but Tree abruptly dropped out and went back to study music technology at the California Institute of the Arts.
Oliver recorded a few songs while he was studying, but success first came with "When I'm Down" with Whethan. Soon after, Tree signed a contract with Atlantic Records, a major player in the music business, and success was in full swing. Oliver is said to have staged a scooter crash at the corporation's offices and presented his vision to the executives with a bleeding mouth thanks to an artificial blood capsule. With more opportunities, he began to create not only new music, but also his trademark crazy videos, which he directs and, of course, stars in, sometimes performing stunts that should not be attempted at home.
The freak was soon noticed at the major US music festivals Lollapalooza and Coachella. The latter is famous for its clothing parade, but it was Oliver who was voted the most stylish at the festival by LA Weekly. Well deserved. It was worth it.
The video for the single "Hurt" from his debut album Ugly Is Beautful (2020) was filmed in Ukraine. It shows not only the nowadays unfortunately common tank on a city street, but also the famous monster scooter with which the artist entered the Guinness Book of Records. The tireless workaholic has released two more albums, Cowboy Tears (2022) and Alone In a Crowd (2023). This album was produced by Grammy nominee and hard-hitting producer Robin Schulz, and the first single was co-written by Oliver Tree with renowned DJ and producer David Guetta.
Just a few weeks ago, Oliver Tree wrapped up the world tour of his latest album in his native California, after having launched it in New Zealand last October. Oliver was joined by Fidlar, Jasiah, Sueco and Tommy Cash, an Estonian well known to Lithuanian audiences. By the way, Oliver has even performed in the place where only Metallica has played so far - Antarctica. In late 2023, together with another star Diplo, they DJed on the ultra-luxury cruise ship The World Voyager, which was heading to this continent.
"After many unsuccessful attempts, I have finally realised my lifelong dream of performing in Antarctica. It was the first show I'd done in over a dozen years of DJing, since I opened for Skrillex in high school. I spoke to Metallica's drummer Lars Ulrich, who played there back in 2013, and his only advice was to go now, because things are melting away so fast." Oliver made a documentary about his trip, raising awareness and money to fight climate change, which is rapidly contributing to the warming oceans and melting ice shelves that are causing Antarctica to disappear at an alarming rate.
This talented artist-turned-personality-doer has much more to offer than meets the eye. His engaging personality, music and exceptional content on the web draw people in. Whether it's his passion for extreme sports, his love for quirky retro fashion or his dedication to philanthropy, Oliver Tree is a real enigma worth exploring. We're in for another great fun and classic open-air concert not to be missed.
You won't regret it!
