Bonding and disconnection, attachment and letting go, growing closer and growing farther apart again - dichotomies that accompany all human life between people. In flux, in flight, in fleeting connections, in idle conversations, in memories, in grievances, in inter-Atlantic flights, in longing and in reconciliation, the distance between self and other is constantly shifting, incessantly creating and re-creating the human bond, wearing down and rekindling hope.
Distance Enough is a dialogue between two bodies and two personalities through movement, about what makes our whole social world go round and round: immediacy and detachment, belonging and liberation, an all-encompassing duality in which connection is not possible without distance, and distance is born in connection. The dance performance invites the audience into a space of self-reflection, without giving up answers and asking the question of how, in a time of great social noise, to maintain the distance that builds us and our relationships, that nurtures and grows us, rather than destroys us.
The performance is created in collaboration with the Chamber Theatre of Kaunas City.
