"Sensational! Scandal! Never happened before!" - these and similar media messages are the biggest audience-getters today. Swearing, intoxication, anti-social moments, rudeness and stupidity are becoming the necessary ingredients for the most attention-grabbing messages.
Television presenters are no exception. In the struggle for airtime, they go to great lengths to find edgy topics, new faces, complicated fates and critical situations. The ratings and the number of views of the programmes are the key criteria used. The people watch, which means they like it and need it.
Often, neither ethical nor moral principles apply among the creators of such information filth. The playwright Julius Paškevičius tells the story of how the fate of a popular TV presenter suddenly changed when she was once visited by a naïve, foolish inhabitant of a provincial town, who turned to the "TV people" to help her find her dream groom.
