Five Nights at Freddy's is a 2023 American supernatural horror film directed by Emma Tammi, who co-wrote the screenplay with Scott Cawthon and Seth Cuddeback, based on the video game series of the same name created and developed by Cawthon. The film stars Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio, Kat Conner Sterling, Mary Stuart Masterson and Matthew Lillard.
The film was first announced in April 2015, when Warner Bros. Pictures and Gil Kenan was contracted to direct and write the screenplay. After several delays in production, Warner Bros. dropped the project and Kenan was no longer involved. In March 2017, it was announced that Blumhouse Productions would produce the film. In February 2018, it was announced that Chris Columbus was to write the script and direct the film. Columbus subsequently withdrew from the project and was replaced as director and co-writer by Emma Tammi in October 2022. Principal photography started on 1 February 2023. The film was shot in New Orleans on January 1, 2023 and finished on April 3 of the same year.
