Event description
Sound / Body / Ritual
On the occasion of the anniversary of the festival, Druskomania encouraged the open call for
unique ideas, in order to get to know the musicians'
community's ideas, desires, needs, and to give them a chance to make them a reality
. The most interesting and original works were selected from a large number of Lithuanian and foreign artists. The evening's performances are united by
interdisciplinarity, sound explorations and, above all, body plasticity and movement,
thereby weaving them into the waltz of the Composers' Dances.

JEREMI BIZIUK
Sound of Tales in Bells
Sound of Tales in Bells by Jeremy Biziuk is a performative composition that combines the artist's interest in the use of worn clothing and the repetition of sound
. Throughout the performance, dressed in a handmade suit and
using bells attached to it, he creates unique soundscapes.
The only sound material is the sound of the bells, which is
modulated during the performance and gradually forms an acoustic piece of repetitive action.
By confining his compositions to these principles, the artist creates a performance
that simultaneously explores textures in both sonic and visual languages.
Jeremis Biziuk is a Polish artist currently living and working in
The Hague, The Netherlands. He graduated from his bachelor's degree here in 2022 and has been working as a professional artist ever since.
Live sound recordings, automatic sound generators, elaborate clothing, textures, and
body immersion are principles that Jeremy has been interested in his whole life and
guided by in his work. It is a multidisciplinary practice that draws on his
experience in different artistic fields and incorporates it into newly invented forms.
AGOTA AND XICO
Noise under the Umbrella
On a rainy autumn morning in 2022, Agota Tamelytė and Xico Ribas came out of their house carrying
three umbrellas (for everything). Seriously looking for something (but nothing special), they
wandered through the bustling streets of Amsterdam.
A tyre blew, an old man cackled, the church bell struck 12:59.
The water splashed in the sewers, cars beeped, clocks ticked.
A lady in high heels came down the sidewalk.
Someone argued about whose turn it was to walk the dog.
Xico offered to flip a coin.
Then the wind blew one of the umbrellas away and carried it to Vilnius.
Noise under the Umbrella is an audiovisual performance in which Agota
Tamelytė and Xico Ribas invite the audience to relive together the story of a rainy day in
Amsterdam. With the help of clocks, synthesizers, telephones, webcams, umbrellas, metal shards and other "noisy" objects, and the audience, they
perform a 40-minute composition, drawing attention to, or even arousing admiration for, the "noises" that surround everyday life. "Noise under the Umbrella" is a duet between Xico Ribas and Agota Tamelytė. Their
performances make sense of the content of their performances through real-time interactions between video and sound,
storytelling and listening. Xico and Agota started working together during the live
electronics master program at the Amsterdam Conservatory.
In 2022, the duo was selected for the residency "Windows of
Opportunity" (Ede, Netherlands), where the project took shape and where the first performance of Noise under the Umbrella was
created. Between 2023 and 2024
NUTU performed at venues such as the Splendor Concert Hall and
the Cavia cinema in Amsterdam, De Berenkuil theatre and the Utrecht Music
house in Utrecht, Koffie & Ambacht in Rotterdam, Ruimsteek in Brussels.
JENA JANG
C U R E - VI
C U R E is a series of transformative performances created in the context of Jena Jang's
PhD thesis "Contemporary Art of Healing" and
performed at the John Evangelista Purkinje University in Usti nad Labem, Czech Republic.
The project is inspired by Korean shamanic rituals and explores the dynamic
exchange of energy between human and non-human beings through
electroacoustic soundscapes, field recordings,
somatic dance, object theatre and sound-responsive visualizations. By combining
ritual elements with contemporary artistic expression, C U R E serves as a
channel for deep interconnections and reflection on the healing potential inherent in the interaction between consciousness and the natural world.
Prague-based Korean audiovisual artist Jena Jang explores the process of healing through the medium of art
. Her own work draws on the Japanese concept of butoh
, which focuses on the body without structure or emotion
, and uses abstract painting and live music. Her
PhD research explores the healing process through art and covers a wide
musical spectrum, from harsh noises to calm melodies, highlighting the
catarrhal power of noise music. Immersive visuals and nature imagery
highlight sensory experiences, while dance improvisation enhances
emotional connections. Through somatic experiences such as screaming and fluid
movements, the project seeks to transcend boundaries and foster healing energy for both
artist and audience.
STEFANIA AND GEDIMIN
Without it
The dance performance "to be" is born out of a different kind of experience. After experiencing physical,
sexual and psychological violence, a strong frustration remained inside Stephanie.
"Through the artistic expression of painting and dance, I allowed myself to "dive into the depths of the soul" and find a way of communicating with the audience that reflects the inner
trauma" - says the artist. The aim of this performance is not only to discover and express oneself
through painting, but also to bring together a community for whom the performance is both an
inspiration and a step towards finding one's own "I". The artist boldly states that
the creative process helps her to heal herself, and the synergy between her and the audience helps her to discover new paths. In this sense, it is a great way to unlock the hearts of the audience and to communicate directly.
