The beloved format and the beautiful concert series at the Orthodox Church of Lukiskes Prison, inspired by Prince's legendary album Piano & A Microphone 1983, continues! This is the third season of this intimate concert series.
Where the music is played is where the fun is. The music is the music that makes the music the music that makes the music the music. St Nicholas the Wonderworker Orthodox Church is already a proven prison conversion site for music. In the very centre of the Orthodox Church there will be only two instruments - a piano and a microphone. Some Lithuanian musicians will be in this role for the first and maybe even the last time in their careers. They will step out of their comfort zone, and some of them will ask for help from pianists.
This series of intimate concerts continues with the much-loved and one of the hardest-working artists of the older generation in Lithuania Linas Adomaitis. Linas does not need a separate presentation, and such a career and achievements would be the envy of any Lithuanian musician.
This will be Linas' first such performance at St.
To quote Linas: We can't say it better than him!
"Piano and microphone - for me, this is a musical format in which I can touch the souls of the listeners in a particularly musical and intimate way. In fact, my whole childhood in Kaunas Juozas Naujalis Music Gymnasium was like this - piano and me with violin strings. And this time it will be very similar - only with strings in the voice, which will dive in the waves of the piano. This time the meaning of the songs will sound even different, because the texts and melodies will be stripped bare and pure. Just as they are. I know that I will say the phrase "I am jealous of myself" more than once at this concert. I am very much looking forward to this cosy meeting with the audience."
The songs will be performed on the piano by Linas' good friend and pianist Gediminas Strupinskas.
The Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker will have only 300 seats.
