Piano & A Microphone: Monique

The much-loved format and beautiful concert series at the Orthodox Church of Lukiskes Prison, inspired by Prince's legendary Piano & A Microphone 1983, continues!

Where the music is played is where the pleasure is. The music of St. St Nicholas the Wonderworker Orthodox Church is already a proven prison conversion site for music. In the very centre of the Orthodox Church there will be only two instruments - a piano and a microphone. Some Lithuanian musicians will be in this role for the first and maybe even the last time in their careers. They will step out of their comfort zone and some of them will ask for help from pianists.

This series of intimate concerts continues with the rediscovered musician and performer Monika Pundziūtė, or simply Monique. She probably doesn't need a separate introduction. We are looking forward to another very beautiful and real concert in this series. A format that suits her very well and that Monique has been wanting to try for some time.

She is finally free to write what she has wanted to say for a long time. This has led to the creation of songs whose previous form was dozens of sheets of paper, written across the length of the page, deeply crammed and released feelings that were very much in the way, and others that helped her live. Now those things have become songs that hear you, understand you and, when you listen, heal you. Monique has always wanted to make this kind of music and today she is very happy that she finally can.

One can only imagine how her work and her recently released short album will sound live at St. The new and recently released album and new music album will be performed at St Nicholas the Wonderworker Church. The piano will be played by Monique's good friend and pianist Lukas Gedvilas.

The "Piano & A Microphone" series of concerts at the Lukiskes Prison will run through May. We will be giving away well-known names and those who will be trying this format for the first time in their lives.
