Lithuanian artists are getting ready for Red Bull Jukebox: a concert directed by the audience
A music party where the style and even the language of the performance will be determined by the audience - this is how the Red Bull Jukebox, an event of a format that has not been seen in Lithuania yet, is presenting itself on March 28th, 2018 in Lithuania. The event will take place in Vilnius on 28th of March. It will feature well-known songs and a bunch of famous performers from the Lithuanian music scene, including one of the most prominent Lithuanian electronic musicians Jonas Nainys-Jovani.
Challenge for artists and organisers, but a treat for the audience
Musician Jonas Nainys, better known as DJ Jovani, who has recently gathered a crowd of fans to the hottest disco, admits that Red Bull Jukebox is a challenge for all the artists that will be on stage, but a great pleasure for the audience nonetheless. "Imagine if you, as a spectator, could vote for 'Slowly the Sun Goes Down' to be played in drum and bass style in Spanish. This is a unique and one-of-a-kind opportunity for both artists and audiences to hear familiar tracks in a new way", says DJ Jovani.
The artist believes it will be an exciting experience for the audience. "With this event, we are unlocking a concept that has never been heard in Lithuania before. For us, the organisers of this show, it means that we have to face a number of challenges and integrate innovations, but I feel a great deal of trust and responsibility - I want to implement all the ideas to the fullest. I am happy doing what I am doing and I believe that this opportunity to participate in Red Bull Jukebox is an appreciation of my long musical journey," shares the artist.
Live Nation Lietuva's representative and one of the event organisers, Paulius Butėnas, points out that this intriguing format of the Red Bull Jukebox is rarely seen in the world. "The fact that it will be held in Lithuania is already an achievement," says Butėnas. According to him, the non-standard concept of the event, the course of which is dictated by the audience, requires creativity and flexibility both in preparation and in working with the performers and the whole organisational team. " Today, most of the world music being created today fits into two minutes, and Jonas' music is no exception. We will have to adapt all the pieces to this format, and even produce multiple versions of some of them. In addition, all the tracks will be adapted for a live band," says one of the organisers about the subtleties of the organisation.
New feature - the audience will be able to vote in three stages
According to the representative of "Live Nation Lietuva", "Live Nation Lietuva", P. Butėnas, the most professional team in Lithuania takes care of the technical implementation of the project. They will also have to take care of the main directorial decision of this event - to ensure smooth voting by the audience. On online platforms and social spaces, viewers will be able to decide on the style of performance of the chosen artist's song and choose the language in which the song will be performed. In a final vote at the event, the audience will decide which tracks will be played in the final.
DJ Jovani is sure to heat up the atmosphere of the event in a solid way. "This is an extraordinary opportunity to give friends and family not things but experiences by inviting them to the party. I'm really hoping for an electrified atmosphere, which will be fuelled by quality and unheard-of music. I think that after the Red Bull Jukebox event, there will be some great versions of the tracks in everyone's playlist. I'm looking forward to hearing and seeing what will come out of it", - says the singer. He asks the audience: "By deciding what music will be played that night, you will be taking control of the DJ console. So vote responsibly!"
