Why Résumé? Because this exhibition summarises the current situation of Šiauliai photography. It will be possible to see in one place the full potential of active artistic photography in Šiauliai. It is an exhibition of the work of artists and photographers working in the city at this particular time, where the photographic image is the most important means of artistic expression. In this way, the exhibition provides an overview of the situation of the city's photographic art and promotes further photographic expression in the city. Last but not least, the third aim of this event is to make the exhibition an ongoing annual cultural event in the city and to bring the photographic community together in a common endeavour. Such a continuing event will encourage the audience and the creators to see photography as an opportunity for artistic self-expression, as a means of creating an individual world, as an expression of original vision. The great advantage of such an exhibition is the unexpected discoveries. During the preparation of this exhibition, it became clear that Šiauliai is currently home to a wide variety of photographers. These include minimalism and naturalism, design aesthetics and the brutality of everyday life, old analogue techniques and digital kaleidoscopes. All this speaks of a particularly dynamic situation in urban photography. Very well-known names of urban photographers are grouped with unheard of names that only the instagram generation knows. This is why this exhibition is interesting for its unexpected mix of museum, art gallery and virtual platform image aesthetics. Such resounding combinations encourage us to continue to explore the potential of the photographic image, to exploit the interactions between fine art and photography, to meet the challenges of a changing reality with the lens, to use the image to express the innermost feelings of the individual.
