In the early 20th century, a British Royal Telegraph Company employee named Christopher Hughes found himself in a village in Georgia. He had no interest in politics, only in the sun, the mountains, work, and the beauty Anna. But the revolution changed Hughes' life - he became an enemy of the girl's brother, Nestor, a Bolshevik and a founder of the first commune. They both will be executed by Lavrenti, a victim of the new government. Many years later, Anna will tell her story to a young composer.
