The exhibition "Sąjūdis Lietuva: the Power of Green Grass" reveals the Sąjūdis not only as the social movement that led Lithuania to liberation, but also as a grassroots social movement, characterised by high self-organisation, mass involvement and spread. The Sąjūdis was a movement not only in the big cities, but also in the provinces. The exhibition reveals the Sąjūd as an event proving that the quest for freedom does not die even during the long years of occupation. The symbol of green grass is also appropriate for the Sąjūd because a large part of the marches of the Sąjūdists were for an ecological Lithuania: for clean nature, clean air, against polluting projects, against future ecological bombs. The exhibition was organised by Kaunas historians and public figures who are committed to preserving the legacy of the Sąjūdis. The historical material of the exhibition is exhibited in replicas of information stands created especially for the Sąjūd in 1988, designed by architect Linas Tuleikis. These stands were used to display the Sąjūdis press and announcements at the beginning of the Revival, and now they are used to display photographs, posters, and newspapers.
