Ramygala KC Theatre performance based on the play "The Descendants of the Sarmatians" by R. Abukevičius On the maps of Europe drawn more than 1000 years ago, we find a country called Sarmatia, with the Nemunas River flowing through its centre. It is believed that there lived a people who were aware of the Community of their origin and who adhered to the same fundamental customs and traditions - the essential worldview. Later, the Grand Duchy of Lithuania was formed on that territory. Over the centuries, the names and contours of states changed, the names of rulers changed, but behind it all were people - with noble aspirations and failures that determined their own and their country's destiny. So now, together with the descendants of the Sarmatians, we will travel back to the late 18th century, which is recorded in history as the Age of Enlightenment, to the relatively modern republic of the Two Nations (Lithuania and Poland) ruled by King Stanislaw Augustus, to touch the moment when Lithuania disappeared from the map of the world for good. The action takes place at the residence of the Lithuanian noblemen Nagurskis in Kurtuvėnai, near Šiauliai. The play is based on historical and documentary material. All the characters are real people. It is the story of one family, like a mirror reflecting the fate of the whole country.
