On the occasion of the 700th anniversary of Vilnius, we invite you to get to know another face of the city – the musical one. The tour will visit both the well-known places and mysterious courtyards. We will talk about the curiosities of musical life at different times, the adventures of famous Vilnius’ musicians or even connections with secret organizations. We will look for enchanting things not only in yards, but also on the walls of buildings. We will happily boast that Vilnius presented European and world premieres of several famous works. You will learn about the citizen of Vilnius who was taught to play by Mozart himself, and about a lady to whom Beethoven himself wrote letters. We will also remember the musical events of the Soviet era and the rock operas of our time. The tour shall begin with the Town Hall, where in the 19th century the first performance of J. W. Haydn's The Creation caused a real storm of admiration among the residents of Vilnius. Our little journey shall end at in the courtyard of the Palace of the Grand Dukes, where you will be able to enjoy a modern performance of this piece on that same evening. The musical path of Vilnius is waiting for you!
