The change of seasons is very important to the artist. In his paintings, the fresh colours of summer are replaced by the tones of autumn, followed by the monochrome of winter and the fragile greens of spring. Everything goes round and round, as in human existence, where mourning is replaced by the joy of birth, grief by the carefree clamour. Sigitas Lukauskas - sensitive to colour and generalised form, materialises the structures of intertwined signs sparingly, moving from a strict scheme and clear outline to the metaphysics of a form of watercolour lightness. The artist's work is full of truth and emotional self-reflections, a hidden message about the fragility of the world and, at times, "the pain suppressed in the heart". The spare metaphors, the sound of colours and the barely perceptible sarcasm are appealing for their simplicity and common human experiences, a sensitive sense of the beauty of the world. He is an artist who lives in peace with God, nature and man. The exhibition will be on view at Vilnius City Hall (Didžioji str. 31, Vilnius) until 31 October.
