Sleaford Mods, the true voice of the British working class, return to Lithuania
The wave of good gigs in the capital city is not about to subside.
Sleaford Mods, the heroes of the first #mybloodyfestival and the creators of one of the best albums of the year "UK Grim", are back in Lithuania. On 26 June, "Sleaford Mods" will come to Vilnius. Most music lovers should be visited by a feeling of "oh shit", "wow" and "I want". Another 8 Days A Week summer concert in the Lukiškės Prison's big courtyard is not to be missed.
There is really no more suitable venue for a Sleaford Mods concert in Vilnius than the beautiful Lukiškės Prison stage in summer. In times of inability to find anything, Sleaford Mods must be seen live. They are adored by Iggy Pop himself, who has just named Sleaford Mods' latest work the best album of the year on BBC Radio 6. And he certainly knows what's good and what music you should listen to. We guarantee that Sleaford Mods will do everything they can to make sure that those who escape prison are not disappointed, are cathartic and want more.
What is it about Sleaford Mods?
"In England, no one can hear you scream", says the much-vaunted Sleaford Mods today, and they are right. They know this about life. This is Sleaford Mods''s position, the main message of the new album and maybe even the essence of the band's work. It's music that was born in Nottingham's underground scene in early 2007 and gained visibility thanks to the BBC, living legend Iggy Pop and label Roughtrade. In context, the fact that Sleaford Mods are coming to Lithuania for the second time makes it seem even more impressive.
Presale is already on and it starts now.
Make sure to come to this gig. It's worth it. For many Sleaford Mods will become a favourite band.

About Sleaford Mods The Sleaford Mods are a two-man band and a phenomenon, although behind their backs is the invisible UK. They fear nothing, they break clichés and tell the truth with an underline: Sleaford Mods are not from London or New York, but from Nottingham, with 2, not 4, members, one of whom does virtually nothing on stage. Instead of playing guitars and drums, they're armed with one microphone and one computer.Sleaford Mods leader Jason Williamson is a real punk, and you wouldn't want to meet him on an unlit street at night. He's responsible for Sleaford Mods' lyrics, instagram gems and awkward moves on stage. The other half of the duo, Andrew Fearn, takes care of the sound, produces and has a rather comical role on stage. It's hard to even explain - Andrew takes care of the good "steering wheel" and computer-assisted soundtrack in the live Sleaford Mods performances. Yes, there is not a single live instrument at their gigs, no other musicians, just Jason barking like an angry dog. But they can bring thousands and major festivals to their knees. Jason's rapping and chanting in his own style is something like that. Just good punk rock and total rock and roll. This is a case where the content and the power of the live performance is everything, and the form just enhances the content and gives it an extra edge.
One thing is for sure, they are already a cult act and one of the most exciting post-all-star bands in the UK today. Relevant and real. It's rumoured that Sleaford Mods have every chance of becoming a headline act at the legendary Glastonbury festival in the future. They are original and, after all they have done up to now, you want to believe in them. We have them now. Especially since the first Sleaford Mods performance at the festival in Vilnius was even a great success. The encounter with Sleaford Mods at the 8 Festival in the summer of 2022 will be one that most festival-goers and residents of Lukiškės Prison will never forget.
"Sleaford Mods" is an event in today's world of music, where everything is so much and everything is so. There is no doubt that "Sleaford Mods" have earned such a buzz primarily because of their musical ability to combine energy, anger, rudeness and fast-talking about the injustices of life. That belongs to them and no one else today. If their rate of productivity doesn't slow down and their creativity doesn't dry up, they will soon move up another class and headline major festivals. No wonder - Jason's project used to be called That's Shit, Try Harder.
Sleaford Mods's influence on the British music scene as a whole is hard to ignore. They're untouchable, adored by all and very prolific. They are proud to be British. Their catalogue of music today alone includes 12 albums, countless singles, videos, compilations, films, concert recordings and much more. A kind of excretion in a good way. They have songs with The Prodigy, Orbital, Amyl and the Sniffers, Dry Cleaning, Billy Nomates, Orbital and others. They are true working-class heroes who are likely to rest only in death. Let's not wish that.
Sleaford Mods are not in it for the money, but regularly donate a portion of their earnings to charities and to those who need it most. And once upon a time, Jason himself couldn't even afford a Mars bar or a can of beer. They are constantly reminded of this and encourage others to contribute. That's worthy of a lot of respect.
Even the twelfth album, UK Grim, is the best thing that Sleaford Mods have done so far. It is also the duo's fourth album to enter the UK Top 10. An interesting detail is that Jason's own wife says that this release is really very aggressive and angry. They remind somehow of key bands from different stages and generations in history - The Jam, The Clash or Public Enemy. This album is a very real thing and deserves a lot of listens. It is impossible not to notice it, it is impossible for it to get lost on the Internet. We're listening and looking forward to another Sleaford Mods show in the capital.

Sleaford Mods is in the spotlight again. Fans of the band recently got a surprise. Who would have thought that they would masterfully cover the Pet Shop Boys' classic "West End Girls" in their signature style and release an iconic video. Even more interestingly, the Pet Shop Boys themselves remixed the Sleaford Mods version, and the whole thing has been turned into a solid release with the Roughtrade quality label.
At the beginning of December, Sleaford Mods will have another big test and the biggest gig of their career so far in London - at the historic Alexandra Palace Concert Hall.
And for now, we're looking forward to the summer and the Sleaford Mods gig in Vilnius.
